Portable Appliance Testing Certification & Reports
On completion of PAT Testing, it is important to provide Portable Appliance Testing Certification & Reports that includes a register of appliances tested.
The IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment requires that appliances are listed with the appropriate electrical tests defined and confirmation of equipment passing or failing. The register provides proof that appliances have been maintained in accordance with current legislation. It is the document that is required to demonstrate that a “Duty of Care” has been undertaken to minimise risk to employees from electrical appliances.
The register also ensures traceability by listing:
- Engineer reference.
- Individual appliance ID number.
- Date of test.
- Appliance description.
- Location of appliance.
- Visual inspections.
- Electrical tests completed, earth continuity, insulation and polarity.
- Indication of pass or fail.
